Bob, Karon and Holland follow the Mother Road from Chicago to Los Angeles, detouring to Las Vegas and finishing the trip in San Francisco.
Plenty of planning went into this trip. Flights were booked – in to Chicago and out from San Francisco, a hire car, accommodation along the way and tickets/bookings for some of the attractions. It was a pretty full itinerary but we still had time to explore.
The Train at Williams

Williams – our next stop over and in the morning we would catch the train out to the Grand Canyon. We stayed overnight in a hotel near the train station and next morning mounted up for a trip out to the rim of the Grand Canyon. The old steam engine still fronted the train but was supplemented by a modern power car behind it.
